Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Government at Smith College. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science with concentrations in Comparative Politics and International Relations from the University of Florida in 2018.
My research focuses on international organizations in Africa and the political determinants of their involvement in member state affairs. Specifically, I focus on their role as international election observers and how they are impacting the nature of election observation on the continent. In doing so, I investigate African agency and various ways that it is expressed by these organizations. I have conducted fieldwork in Botswana, Ethiopia, Malawi and Zambia.
